French
Ooh là là! The knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom (Roger Bacon: English philosopher and Franciscan friar). A level French at Bishop Challoner School provides students with the cultural knowledge and linguistic competence to succeed.
Key Stage 5 (Years 12 & 13)
Examination Board: AQA
By studying French in the Sixth Form, students will become confident speakers and communicators. They will be able to discuss current affairs, social issues, politics, immigration, the arts and culture. In addition, students will develop their literary and essay writing skills through the study of French literature and film.
An A level in French is an invaluable qualification that can open many doors in the future, as language skills are well sought after by employers across many sectors. It encourages the enjoyment of language learning and the recognition that language skills enable students to take their place in a multi-lingual global society.
"Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things." Flora Lewis - Journalist
