Key Stage 1
In Years 1 and 2, the children (aged 5 - 7) are taught through a broad and balanced curriculum. Our lessons follow the National Curriculum with more emphasis on the core subject skills in English and Mathematics.
A wide range of other subjects are offered and the children are active and motivated in their learning. Specialist teachers take lessons in French, Computing, Music, PE and Games. Children are challenged to develop new talents and build on their independent learning and problem solving skills.
Our aim is to ensure that each child is happy and that they are well equipped to embark on their next phase of learning. We encourage the children to embrace a variety of creative learning challenges, helping them to develop their team working and perseverance skills.
Key Stage 1 subjects include:
- Science
- Religion
- History
- Geography
- Art
- Music
- French
- PE

"The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you’ll go." - Dr. Seuss
As a Catholic foundation and Christian school, the teaching and learning in Religious Education is embedded in the Gospel values and in the love which God has for each and every one of us. All children are encouraged to show respect, be compassionate and support each other. This enables them to have the confidence to take risks, embrace opportunity and enjoy their journey of self-discovery. Children in Key Stage 1 actively participate in all Religious Education lessons, whole school masses, assemblies and services.
